What is reiki?

Reiki is an ancient eastern method of healing that is simple and safe. Reiki can be used in conjunction with other healing modalities including those in the standard medical and mental health realms. In the last several years, the National Institute of Health has even begun to conduct research on the effectiveness of reiki treatments. In fact, reiki services are becoming more available in hospital settings to help patients better manage anxiety as well as the side effects of chemotherapy and to recover more quickly from surgical procedures. Reiki is also commonly used to help treat headaches, stomach and intestinal issues, colds and flu, injuries, depression and stress-related conditions.

Since reiki addresses the whole person--mind, body, spirit and emotions—it is often experienced as a deeply relaxing and peaceful experience.  Well-being is also usually enhanced and these positive states of mind and body can last for quite a while after a treatment is concluded.  Some people have reported being healed of chronic and even life threatening ailments after being in reiki treatment.

What happens in a reiki session?

Reiki sessions usually last from 30-90 minutes.  The client can be seated however reiki practitioners often have clients lay down on a massage table to enhance relaxation.  Unlike massage therapy, clients remain fully clothed and no oils are used.

The reiki practitioner will then place his/her hands on or near the clients body in specified hand positions around the head and shoulders, the midsection, the feet and any other area that the client may need. Clients often experience the reiki touch as one that is warm, light and soothing.  Clients sometimes fall asleep or experience the feeling of floating, especially as negative emotions, fear and tension are released.

Session & Fee Structures

Sessions generally last for 60 minutes or longer when needed and are $75
